“Postcards From an Artist”: It Begins!
Today it begins! I’m in New York right now; later this week, Rome. After that, Germany, Switzerland and France. In all, close to 2 months, 4 countries and a world of experiences I can’t wait to embrace!
Here’s the thing. I didn’t want this to be one of those “Oh – Karen’s off doing her thing. How nice.” things. I wanted to be more inclusive than that. This experience is the result of a series of choices, decisions and life-changing events in my life that began years ago. I wanted this trip to account for all of them. But even more; count towards maybe giving ALL of us the juice we need to create a life more amazing than we ever dreamed possible. Maybe I’m a dreamer (Duh!)… but I know I’m not the only one. 😉
I just made this video this morning, introducing the whole idea. It’s super casual… I did it done on my iPhone, before heading out for the day.
Here’s what I’m planning. Certainly, I’ll be sharing my adventures through photographs, writing and video… but more, I invite everyone to join into a “Live a Life You Love” challenge. I’m not making that last bit a formal thing, it’s just an invitation to dream. To say “YES” to what you love and secretly desire instead of barfing up a list of all the reasons why you can’t, why it doesn’t make sense, why “IT” can never happen… whatever “It” is for you.
I’ll share ideas and goings-on each today.
For instance, here’s a idea: TODAY’S CHALLENGE: BEGIN. That’s it. Just begin. For instance:
What idea, thought or dream have you had that you’ve procrastinated, put off or just plain said “no” to? What one simple action could you take today that’s in alignment with it? It could be the tiniest thing, it doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is that YOU know it’s a step. The change happens in your mind first. The action makes it real.
I know how conditioned we all are to think “Oh – that’s great for her/him… she/he is (fill in the blank with whatever reason why you think he/she can have “It”, but you can’t) Believe me, I get it. Along the way, I’ll share why this notion hits home for me, why I feel it’s imperative to STOP SAYING NO to our dreams and some of the ways I’ve found to invite my inner YES to play… successfully. It’s taken me a lifetime. Maybe through this, you’ll have some awesome “Aha!” that cuts down the (life)time for you.
Or maybe you’re already living the life you dreamed of – and want to root us on! I’d love that so hard.
Maybe you think this is all BS. Hey, that’s OK too. You can just look at the photos. They’ll be plenty of ’em!
