Bettylou: A Celebration of Life

May 12, 2013: Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day all!

I made (and narrated) this video in 2008 for my mom Bettylou’s Celebration of Life. And it WAS a celebration! She made us promise we would do that when she was gone. She also made us promise we would dance… which we did! She wanted no sadness, she said, because life is so fantastic. She loved every minute of it and wanted friends gathering in her honor to remember that – and to keep on living it to the fullest. She wanted that to be her final message. So that there would be no doubt as to what she stood for, I made this movie. I’ve never shared it publicly before now.

When Bettylou left for her next big adventures of spirit at the age of 88, we knew she left us with a true legacy. It really boiled down as an example of How To Live. You don’t have to be perfect, you don’t always have to be right. Nope. As Mom would say: “Love is what it’s all about.” I think that pretty much sums it up… along with the 5 choices you should always be sure to make, which I posted earlier here. Oh – and 11 hugs a day. She believed that was the number of hugs for optimum health. Now get out there hug someone you care about today! And have a fantastic life.

PS: My wish? That YouTube would give us a better selection of thumbnails to choose for this opening frame! Although that IS one of the many gorgeous quilts Mom made… it’s just not what I would’ve chosen as a billboard. Y’know?
