This project struck my soul like no other! Fujifilm collaborated with CEPA Gallery in Buffalo, New York to give Hope Grunert the opportunity of a life time. As my mentee, we explored Zion National Park, taking the ultimate photowalk, with full hearts and the Fujifilm X-T5. The film we made; “Photography First” says it all.
The artist’s road is paved by opportunities to learn. Through attempts and failures, isolated studies, and fateful revelations, they come in many forms. Often, the very best are delivered by mentors, knowledgeable and astute from their own decades of dedicated learning. The right advice can resonate so strongly that it shapes any endeavor to follow.
It seems an impossible task to contain the limitless beauty of nature to a single point of view. What’s a moth to a mountain range? The two cannot be compared, yet both demand to be seen in a scale worthy of their magnificence. While boundless potential can be taken from virtually any lens in the hands of the right creator, some things have simply been off limits by design.
At 122,160,280 acre feet, the Jewel of the Sierra flows through muted alpine plains, carrying with it a tale of two million years – reflected and rippled in tepid freshwater currents. Shaped throughout bitter ice ages, Lake Tahoe’s azure streams absorb the flushed varieties of west-coast sunlight, shimmering across a surface that seems to join sky and sea as one.
A project for Fujifilm that I’m mighty proud of. Welcome to my first visit to Zion National Park; an epic tale, told through the eyes of a single Macro lens. Fujifilm Global article/film here.
