Frequencies of Intent & Waterfall Love
Waterfalls always feel so cleansing, don’t they? The sound, the spray, the colors, the ions… all spell ‘reinvigorate’.
I always feel like art and photos can contain a ‘frequency’, just like sound does. Having worked with sound waves thousands of times over the years as a professional voice artist, I’ve thought a lot about this; the way feeling and emotion weave themselves indelibly & deeply into a wave form.
When I settle in with a favorite photo or other form of art, I can likewise feel the intent and purpose of the artist – hear their “voice” – just as clearly as if they’d spoken. Which they did! I love works with positive intent the most. The ones with intent to make you feel fuller, better, uplifted in some way. That’s the energy I want around me all the time. And now… more than ever… I believe it’s important to be purposeful in our lives about that.
Waterfalls feel cleansing. Soothing. Invigorating and peaceful all at the same time.
I love waterfalls, don’t you?
This one is Horsetail Falls in Oregaon. 2.5 second exposure. It felt REALLY good to be there… when I look at this, I can still feel it. Love that!
Rockin’ the iPhone
2 things about me.
I love mobile photography – and my iPhone 5 is my friend.
Not only does my iPhone bring my world to me so I don’t have to go chasing all over creation after it (truthfully, any phone will do that.)… it takes photos that STILL kick all the others’ ass. If you have an Android and take umbrage at that last part, I’m sorry. But it’s true.
I’ve tried the MotoX, the Nexus 5, HTC One… and checked out scads of others – new and old – that friends own. Believe me, I’ve tried stretching my wings. But all roads lead back to the iPhone camera. Still!
It IS too small anymore. But with the new BIGGER ones on the way… well, you know where I’m headed. heh.
My Mobile Categories
I think of mobile shots in a few ways, and approach each shot according to each one.
On my iPhone, I can take purty photos on the spot, give them a little KHutt love, post them – and enjoy the fact that they don’t scream ‘MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY!!’. Sometimes its fun to see if people register that it IS a mobile shot! This one was taken over the weekend at ZigZag Creek at the foot of Mt. Hood in Oregon. We were up visiting our friends Brian Matiash and Nicole S. Young. On Sunday, we went out to photograph and also shoot an episode of The Chat with Brian, which we did sitting on a log by this very same creek:

Looking Back on The Chat, Episode 1
I loved my visit with Daria Musk on our debut episode of “The Chat with Karen Hutton” ! And I’m super excited to share Part 2 of our Chat on Monday… she sings, just for us!! I’ll definitely be posting reminders… you won’t want to miss it!
Daria’s got a ton of energy; she’s a powerhouse. She’s super smart – and she’s deep. Complex. Full of wonderful textures and interesting light. Kind of like this forest. More than a little magical.
She’s also the CEO of her burgeoning empire; she makes the calls, sets up the shows, handles the marketing and social outreach, decides on which projects/engagements/concerts to take, you name it. Beneath it all: she has complete clarity that she was given a gift and is doing her best to live up to it. She follows her inner guidance and thinks about Light. She prays that standing in her own truth as she does That Thing she does could possibly heal the world in some small way.
I think about this too.
